The Barren County Detention Center in Kentucky has opened an employee micro market supplied by Aramark Correctional Services, the jail's food-service provider, according to a Glasgow News1 report.

The unattended break-room store was installed at no cost to the county or detention center.

Employees working 12-hour shifts can scan and purchase snacks, drinks and prepared meals without leaving the facility or ordering food for delivery. The checkout system accepts card payments without adding a service fee.

Aramark operates similar markets at other correctional facilities and sets prices by reviewing those of nearby retailers. The company will track purchases and adjust the product selection based on demand, including locally popular items such as Grippo's potato chips.
