Murray County Schools in Georgia has completed the installation of five book vending machines across the district as part of an initiative to encourage reading and improve students' access to books, according to an announcement from the district. The machines have been installed at Chatsworth Elementary, Coker Elementary, Eton Elementary, Bagley Middle and Gladden Middle schools.

District officials hope the program will make reading more appealing while helping children develop their own book collections. The initiative is also intended to encourage students to read outside the classroom and establish reading habits that support their long-term academic development.

The project fulfills a longstanding district goal spearheaded by Adriane Ellis, instructional technology director, and Donna Eskut, federal programs director. Maintenance employees Chris Crow and Jamie Dunn assisted with delivering and installing the equipment at the five schools. With the installations complete, district officials hope the machines will provide an engaging way to promote literacy and encourage students to discover new books.
