Fresh & Ready Foods has recalled a limited number of Sprig & Sprout Spicy Breakfast Burritos and Fresh and Ready Spicy Breakfast Burritos after sausage and undeclared soy were found in products labeled vegetarian, according to a press release. The recall followed two customer complaints, although no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported.
The affected burritos were produced at the company's Charlotte, North Carolina, facility from July 9 through July 12 and carry a "Fresh Thru" date of July 20. They were distributed through vending machines and grab-and-go markets in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The recall does not include other products made at the Charlotte facility or the company's other manufacturing plants.
Consumers should discard the recalled burritos and avoid eating them. Soy can cause serious or life-threatening reactions in people with an allergy or severe sensitivity, while consumers who do not eat meat should be aware that the products may contain sausage.
