Automated food store opens in downtown East Lansing

Michigan vending operator VendHubb has opened a storefront containing 10 vending machines at 205 M.A.C. Ave. in downtown East Lansing, according to an East Lansing Info report. The business, founded by Jennifer and Robert Slocum, includes a pizza machine, a hot-food machine, four cold-beverage machines, three snack machines and one machine stocked with medicine and household essentials.

The pizza machine stores as many as 69 frozen 12-inch pizzas and cooks each order in about three minutes. Cheese pizzas cost $13 and pepperoni pizzas cost $14, with Detroit-style and vegetarian options planned. Another machine heats refrigerated items such as breakfast sandwiches, burritos, chicken potstickers, muffins and cookies in about 90 seconds.

VendHubb also carries 68 beverages, including energy drinks, soda, sparkling water and coffee, along with candy, chips, granola bars and other snacks. Its nonfood machine sells products including toothbrushes, detergent, deodorant, eye drops, condoms and over-the-counter medication. The store remains open until midnight early in the week and until 3 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
