Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management has replaced traditional vending machines with automated food options at its newly renamed Olsten Market, according to a Syracuse University Today report.
The former Olsten Café now offers hot meals, snacks and coffee to accommodate students' schedules, including late-night study sessions.
The market includes a Just Baked smart oven, California Pizza Kitchen pizzas, Carlo's Bakery cake slices and bean-to-cup coffee systems. Pico Smart Coolers from 365 Retail Markets offer meals and snacks, including salads and sandwiches from Brooklyn Pickle. The machines accept 'Cuse Cash and major credit cards.
Student focus groups helped shape the project, requesting healthier choices, more variety and round-the-clock access. Servomation Refreshments Inc., which received the university's campus vending contract in 2025, supplied the technology. The renovated space also includes a microwave for students' own meals and ice machines.
