The University of Toledo is transitioning its campus vending operations to the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired in a phased rollout scheduled throughout the summer, according to a press release.
The change began July 1, when the bureau assumed responsibility for beverage vending machines on the university's Main Campus, with snack vending services expected to transfer by the beginning of August.
Ohio's Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired is a state agency that helps blind and visually impaired Ohioans achieve employment and independence through programs including vending operations.
University officials said the partnership is intended to provide convenient and accessible vending services for students, faculty, staff and visitors while ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption. Campus users can expect to see updated vending machines and changes to product selections as the rollout continues.
Under the new arrangement, all vending machines operated by the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired will be cashless, accepting payment by card only. The university said the phased implementation is designed to maintain service continuity as the new vending program is introduced.
