T-ROC Global will deploy and operate as many as 1,000 California Pizza Kitchen automated retail machines nationwide over the next three years under a new partnership with the restaurant brand, according to a press release.
The machines will target airports, universities, hospitals, hotels, offices, residential communities, EV charging stations, sports venues and other high-traffic locations where a traditional restaurant may not be practical.
T-ROC Global provides technology, staffing and operational services that help brands deploy, manage and expand traditional and automated retail programs.
The automated units will use TurboChef cooking equipment, data-driven management tools and touchscreens to prepare a CPK pizza in as little as 90 seconds. Plans also call for offering other menu items, including Kung Pao and Bolognese spaghetti, several varieties of macaroni and cheese, and CPK's signature butter cake.
T-ROC will use its network of 32 warehouses, dedicated vans and thousands of technicians to install, stock, maintain and support the machines. The initial rollout will focus on groups of at least 20 units in 30 major U.S. markets. T-ROC will also provide replenishment, repairs, logistics, training, kiosk-management technology and site-selection support for CPK's other automated retail partners.
The agreement accelerates an automated retail program CPK began testing last year. The restaurant company already operates machines at Boston Logan International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Dallas Love Field and Dayton International Airport, and plans to activate 15 more at universities later this year. CPK said the partnership will allow it to reach customers in more places while creating new occasions for on-demand food purchases.
