Tomra Systems has reported a 20% increase in third-quarter 2026 revenue, driven by growth across its collection, recycling and food divisions, including stronger sales of reverse vending machines.

The Norwegian recycling technology company generated revenue of approximately $410 million during the quarter, up from $343 million a year earlier. The company's Collection division, which supplies reverse vending machines and beverage container recovery systems, recorded a 21% revenue increase to approximately $243 million, reflecting higher equipment sales and expansion into new deposit return markets.

Tomra reported more than 91,900 reverse vending machine installations across more than 60 markets, with its equipment collecting more than 53 billion used bottles and cans annually. Collection revenue in established markets increased 19% to approximately $216 million, including a $9 million contribution from CLYNK, the U.S. container collection business Tomra acquired in 2025.

Revenue from newer markets rose to approximately $26.9 million from $19 million, supported by deliveries to Poland, Singapore and Romania. The company said a greater proportion of reverse vending machine sales contributed to a decline in the division's gross margin to 40.8% from 42.3%. Collection operating earnings nevertheless increased to approximately $40.3 million from $32.5 million.

Tomra expects continued demand for reverse vending machines as governments introduce or expand beverage container deposit return programs. The company is supplying approximately 1,350 machines for Quebec's recycling system expansion and is participating in Singapore's deposit return network, which launched in April. In Europe, Tomra anticipates additional installations in Poland and Portugal, while preparations are underway for deposit return systems scheduled to begin in the U.K. in October 2027. The company expects initial British installations could occur in late 2026, with larger deployments following in 2027. Beyond Collection, Tomra's Recycling division posted a 34% revenue increase during the quarter, while its Food division grew 13%.
