Automated smoothie machine developer smoodi has deployed six of its machines at Baptist Hospital of Miami and West Kendall Baptist Hospital as part of its expansion into healthcare settings, according to a press release.

The company said the installations build on momentum from its university deployments, where demand for automated fresh beverage programs has grown. During an early-April soft launch in Miami, the machines sold more than 6,000 smoothies, according to company data. The systems are designed to help hospitals provide healthier food and beverage choices without requiring additional staffing or extensive kitchen operations.

The machines use pre-portioned frozen fruit, vegetable and protein cups that are blended directly inside sealed containers, followed by an automated self-cleaning cycle after each use. Company President and COO Niran Avni said hospitals are looking for ways to add fresh food options while managing staffing and operational challenges. The company provides installation, service and ongoing operational support as part of the program.

Smoothies and protein shakes have historically been difficult to automate because of ingredient handling and cleaning requirements, but smoodi's system is designed to simplify operations in high-traffic environments such as hospitals, universities, airports and convenience stores. The company said it plans continued expansion into healthcare and other institutional markets.
