Florida-based nonprofit Special Hearts Farm has been selected as a recipient of funds generated through a Light the World Giving Machine, a charitable vending initiative sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The machines, located in public spaces such as shopping malls, allow users to purchase donated items, including meals, clothing and livestock, with all proceeds directed to participating nonprofits. This machine was located in the Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs, according to an Observer report.
Special Hearts Farm provides hands-on farm experiences, education and employment opportunities for children and adults with special needs.
The nonprofit received $18,661 through the program, which it said will support its mission and operations. In a public statement, Special Hearts Farm expressed gratitude for being included, describing the funding as a meaningful contribution and calling participation in the initiative a privilege.
