Atmos Energy has donated book vending machines to all 14 elementary schools in the Wichita Falls Independent School District in Texas, completing the rollout with an Oct. 29 ribbon-cutting at McNiel Elementary School, according to a KFDX News report.
The initiative, developed through a partnership with the WFISD Foundation, began in October 2025 at Booker T. Washington and Scotland Park elementary schools. Students earn tokens for positive behavior and accomplishments, then exchange them for books they can take home and keep.
Atmos Energy representative Pam Hughes Pak, Superintendent Donny Lee and foundation and district staff attended the McNiel celebration. A first-grade class earned the opportunity to select the first books by recording the school's highest attendance during the first nine weeks.
