The person managing or controlling the premises will be responsible for compliance, rather than the machine's owner unless that owner also controls the property. Violations can result in fines of up to 2,500 pounds (approximately $3,374.84) in England, Wales and Scotland and up to 5,000 pounds (approximately $6.749.67) in Northern Ireland. Trading standards offices will enforce the rules in Great Britain, while local councils will handle enforcement in Northern Ireland.
