Swyft has rebranded as Mercury Automated Retail Solutions, introducing an expanded platform designed to provide around-the-clock retail services at airports, hotels and other high-traffic locations, according to a press release.
The transformation includes updated technology, expanded operational capabilities and new leadership under CEO Ken Sullivan. The company said its business model combines automated retail equipment with merchandising, inventory management, payment processing, replenishment and performance analytics to help operators serve customers beyond traditional retail hours.
Mercury currently operates more than 100 automated stores across more than 20 airports. The company reported that its airport locations generate approximately $5,000 to $10,000 in revenue per square foot, although it did not specify the measurement period. The company also cited the importance of airport commercial revenue, noting that non-aeronautical activities account for 36.7% of airport income. Mercury's strategy focuses on using compact retail installations to generate sales in locations where conventional stores may be impractical or unavailable.
The company is also targeting hospitality, health care and higher education facilities. Mercury reported conversion rates exceeding 40% in its hospitality operations, while transaction data from its Better+ platform indicated that 39.4% of purchases occur between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Hotel installations offer products including over-the-counter health supplies, personal care items, travel accessories and electronics. Mercury said its expanded operating model is intended to help property owners provide convenient retail access without adding staffed stores while giving consumer brands additional opportunities to reach customers.
