Customers said the Lewisville shop became an informal "third space" where people could socialize without feeling pressured to make a purchase.

While construction continues at the Denton storefront, Bowman has introduced the business to the community through temporary pop-up shops. He told the news outlet that former customers have attended the events alongside new supporters, giving him confidence that Velcrokid can rebuild its community and establish a stronger presence in Denton.
