Fuji Electric, Japan's largest vending machine manufacturer, is adapting its beverage refrigeration technology for data center cooling, according to a Financial Times report. The company said its ejector cooling system can reduce cooling energy consumption by up to 85%.
The compressor-free system reuses waste heat and is designed for applications including liquid cooling of artificial intelligence servers. Fuji Electric's fiscal 2026 strategy identified data centers as a target market for the technology.
Analysts told the Financial Times that commercial adoption remains uncertain. Competing technologies and major operators' existing infrastructure plans could slow deployment, particularly in the U.S. Fuji Electric is targeting more than $61 million in annual ejector-system sales to data centers by 2030.
