DyDo Drinco and Japanese food company Mizkan are partnering to introduce two hot pot-inspired canned soups that will be sold through vending machines and retailers across Japan beginning Oct. 26, according to a Sept. 10 company release. The products are based on Mizkan's Shimenabe hot pot line and mark the brand's first move into canned soup. The two varieties are sesame soy milk and scallop-and-clam broth, with both prepared in a zosui style that includes whole grains of rice.

The 185-gram cans will have a suggested retail price of about $1.04 U.S, before tax. DyDo said its processing method allows whole rice grains to be incorporated into the soup while retaining their texture. The collaboration combines Mizkan's experience in developing hot pot products with DyDo's beverage development expertise and is intended to provide consumers with a convenient, ready-to-drink option for colder weather. The products will be available nationwide through vending machines and mass retailers.
