Murphy USA plans to introduce automated White Castle food kiosks at select larger-format convenience stores, according to a CSP Daily News report, giving customers access to hot sliders without a conventional restaurant kitchen or foodservice staff. The self-contained platform, developed by Automated Retail Technologies, allows customers to order through a touchscreen and receive prepared food in about two minutes.

Murphy USA said the pilot is designed to meet growing consumer demand for convenient, higher-quality food that can be purchased during quick trips. The retailer will also evaluate whether autonomous foodservice can increase store traffic, inside sales and average basket size while avoiding the labor, space and infrastructure requirements of a traditional commercial kitchen. Murphy USA operated 1,806 convenience stores at the end of the second quarter, including 1,659 Murphy USA and Murphy Express locations and 147 QuickChek stores.

Automated Retail Technologies' system handles food preparation, heating and dispensing within the kiosk. The company previously deployed a White Castle kiosk at Boston Logan International Airport in 2025 that offers four varieties of ready-to-eat sliders.
