The East Lansing, Michigan, Kiwanis Club unveiled a new book vending machine located in Red Cedar Elementary School.
The Kiwanis Club received a $2,500 grant from the United Methodist Church to purchase the books, according to a WILX 10 news report. This book vending machine project is part of the Kiwanis Club's Signature Project and it aims to install more book vending machines in middle and elementary schools in East Lansing.
"It's just it puts books in students' hands, what the majority of our students being English language learners, reading is one of the best things they can do to continue to promote their literacy instruction, and having this vending machine just makes things exciting for them," Rinard Pugh, the principal of Red Cedar Elementary, told the news outlet.
