India's vending machine industry is expanding rapidly as operators move beyond packaged snacks and soft drinks, according to a Mint report. The country had an estimated 358,000 installed machines in 2025, a 24% increase from the previous year, according to Mint. The market is valued at about $209 million and is growing 20% to 25% annually..

Companies are using vending machines to sell fresh juice, protein shakes, healthier snacks, menstrual hygiene supplies and sexual wellness products. Corporate offices remain a major market, but machines are also appearing in airports, transit stations, gyms, hotels and shopping centers. Some brands use the machines to introduce products to consumers, while small retailers can deploy them to continue selling after regular business hours.

The widespread adoption of UPI digital payments has made unattended retail more practical, and operators are reporting growing interest in smaller Indian cities. Expansion still presents challenges, including unreliable electricity and internet connections, theft, exposure to weather, limited product capacity and frequent restocking requirements. Despite those obstacles, operators expect specialized products and higher-margin merchandise to support continued growth.
