Zico founder buys brand back from Coca-Cola

PowerPlant Ventures, a venture-capital firm co-founded by Mark Rampolla, the founder of Zico Beverages LLC, has acquired Zico coconut water from The Coca-Cola Co., according to a streetinsider.com report. Terms were not disclosed

Rampolla founded Zico Beverages in 2004 and sold it to The Coca-Cola Co. in 2013.

PowerPlant Ventures will rename the product Zico Rising.

Coca-Cola Co. announced in October that it would stop offering Zico along with 200 other brands it was discontinuing.
