The Student Senate at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has approved a proposal to install a health and wellness vending machine on campus, according to a report in the student newspaper The Spectator.
The measure calls for a machine stocked with over-the-counter medications and health products, including pain relievers, allergy treatments, hydrocortisone cream, Narcan, pregnancy tests and emergency contraception.
The proposal received broad support, passing by a 24-1-2 vote. Advocates argue the vending machine would offer a discreet and readily available option for students seeking common health products, particularly outside traditional pharmacy hours.
