TOKYO -- Multimedia arts and culture website Vice has produced a mini documentary on the history and popularity of Konami's Dance Dance Revolution in Japan. Introduced in Japan in 1998, the game continues to be a favorite among arcade-goers, attracting a highly competitive fan base.
While enthusiasm for DDR has declined in the U.S., the dance simulator remains prevalent in Japan, where players line up to compete in organized and informal competitions.
In the the nine-minute, Vice reporter Nick Norton interviews some of Tokyo's most dedicated players and the Konami people responsible for maintaining the game's popularity.
