Vermont lawmakers seek beverage tax study

Vermont lawmakers have called for a study on the impact of a proposed sugar-sweetened beverage tax, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association weekly legislative update.

Having passed both the House and Senate, Bill S100 calls on the state to estimate how much revenue a sugar-sweetened beverage tax would raise to support the universal school meal program. The legislation been sent to Gov. Phil Scott.
