PARIS -- The popular Vending Paris trade show is being held in conjunction with the Sandwich & Snack Show and Parizza, an exposition for operators of Italian restaurants, on Mar. 18 and 19 (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Paris Expo-Porte de Versailles exhibition center here. This is a repeat of last year's initiative that rescheduled Vending Paris (originally D.A. Expo) from its traditional fall date to the spring, coinciding with the two fast food shows.

A highlight of the simultaneous shows will be an International Business Day on Mar. 18, the fourth idea-exchange event in the history of Vending Paris. This will explore the increasingly close relationship between vending and the fast food sector. Vending Paris is sponsored by the French vending association NAVSA (Paris) and organized by Reed Expositions France (Puteaux), which also manages the Sandwich & Snack Show and Parizza.

The European Vending Association (Brussels) is once again participating in the French shows. EVA pointed out that France is the second-largest coffee service and vending market in Europe, in terms of volume and number of machines, making Vending Paris must-attend event.

"We are glad to support again NAVSA's trade show and to sustain our partnership with Reed, the organizer of Vending Paris," EVA said. "The collaboration between the EVA and Reed is very cooperative, and therefore we are currently organizing the International Business Day in order to give an international dimension to the show, with a conference on the market trends and electronic payments." As in previous years, EVA will share a booth (T-077) with NAVSA at the show.

This year will be the second time in which Vending Paris combined its trade show with the Sandwich & Snack and Parizza shows. "NAVSA adopted this new strategy in order to underline the synergies and crossovers between both the snacking and vending industry," EVA explained. "In a market in which vending is very much used as a channel to compensate for missed meals but also to offer lunch opportunities, this strategic move is understandable." NAVSA believes that getting trade show visitors from different segments also will allow the vending industry to become better-known to general consumers, the association added.

NAVSA (Syndicat Nationale de Vente et Services Automatiques), which was founded in 1955, will bring showgoers up to date on the progress of its well-received "healthy" vending program, introduced in 2012. It's called "feelGood: de la variété dans votre distributeur," and labels bearing this slogan identify machines stocked with balanced selections including fruit, low-calorie beverages, cereal products and dairy items.
