WASHINGTON -- Vagabond Vending has announced a strategic partnership with PayRange (Portland, OR), under which the two companies will integrate data and mobile payments to enable operators to optimize sales and reduce operating expenses through use of Vagabond's vending management software.

PayRange is a cashless payment system that eliminates the need for telemetry hardware and subscription to a wireless connection in the vending machine. Instead, it permits patrons to employ the Bluetooth personal-area networking capability of a smartphone to communicate with the low-cost PayRange device, installed between the payment system module and the machine's controller board. The phone accesses a secure website at which the payment is authorized, receives the verification, retransmits it locally to the machine, and the patron makes the vend.

PayRange chief executive Paresh Patel said that the Vagabond partnership rounds out PayRange's offering to operators by "increasing revenues through product merchandising, decreasing costs through route efficiencies and enhancing net profitability through live machine management."

Vagabond's vending technology platform consists management tools accessible from mobile devices. It integrates with other industry available telemetry hardware and any Web, mobile or tablet device.

Vagabond chief executive Michael Lovett observed that "PayRange is a perfect fit with Vagabond's strategy of offering choices through partnerships." He explained that operators now can install a PayRange BluKey device in any vending machine they want to adapt to cashless sales at much lower cost, while benefitting from Vagabond's mobile VMS technology."

The combined PayRange and Vagabond solution will be demonstrated at the NAMA OneShow in the PayRange (#1500), Vagabond (#515) and Vistar (#1731) booths.
