MALVERN, PA -- USA Technologies Inc. announced a nationwide rollout of new acceptance points for Apple Pay.
USAT's 200,000 Apple Pay acceptance points bring the mobile payments service to owners and operators of coffee brewers, vending machines, kiosks, laundry equipment and parking pay stations, among other self-serve appliances.
When Apple Pay users add a credit or debit card, the actual card numbers are neither stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique "device account number" is assigned, encrypted and stored in the "secure element" on the device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of the credit card.
Apple Pay works with iPhones 6 and 6 Plus.
USA Technologies began building the NFC capabilities that now supports Apple Pay into its cashless payment products and services 10 years ago.
