According to local reports, Jimmy Jack Olson, 31, was taken into custody last month, putting an end to an alleged crime spree that lasted a little over a month, netting more than $33,000. The incidents also caused thousands of dollars in damages to a wide range of coin-op equipment located throughout the Salt Lake City area.
Authorities claim that Olson's favorite targets were amusement machines, especially skill cranes and kiddie rides. Reports say he used a crowbar and screwdriver to break into the games while locations, mostly stores, were still open, and that store employees might have mistaken him as an authorized service representative.
Charges against Olson include felony theft and misdemeanor criminal mischief. However, law enforcement authorities noted that since Olson already has a criminal record for burglary, robbery and theft, he qualifies for enhanced penalties.
