The University of Dallas now has access to healthier snack and drink options thanks to vending machines installed by Elevation Vending, a local business, according to a report by The Cor Chronicle. Brian Howard, who runs Elevation Vending, aims to provide convenient access to better-for-you choices.

"Often the most convenient option is not the most healthy option," Howard told the news outlet. "But not when it comes to these vending machines. [They] will feature healthier options — snacks and drinks that are lower in sugar and higher in protein — while still stocking familiar favorites like Snickers. Students and staff won't have to compromise their health goals for whatever happens to be within arm's reach."

The machines offer items like banana chips, protein bars, peanuts, pistachios, teas, water, protein shakes and, as a nod to Howard's personal history with the university, even Snickers bars. Howard's father was a healthcare pioneer in Irving, and his stepfather was a long-time history professor at UD, giving Howard a unique connection to both health and the university. He hopes his business will promote wellness on campus.
