United Natural Foods breaks ground on Florida distribution center

United Natural Foods Inc. has broken ground on a distribution center just north of Sarasota, Florida, according to a press release. The new DC will replace an aging facility and will incorporate the latest warehouse technology to increase efficiency in selecting, packing and loading processes.

UNFI is working with JLL, Broadstone Net Lease Inc., Sansone Group and Arco Design/Build on the building. The warehouse will be more than 1 million square feet of capacity and incorporate Knapp re-pack automation.

Additionally, it will be a fully air-conditioned warehouse and will feature natural daylighting concepts and dimmable lighting, as well as a full-building water filtration system.
