Tyson Foods to lay off 228 in Illinois

Tyson Foods Inc. plans to lay off 228 corporate employees in Illinois who chose not to relocate to its Arkansas headquarters, according to a Reuters report.

The company will eliminate 177 employees in its downtown Chicago headquarters and 51 in suburban Downers Grove, a Chicago suburb, beginning July 31.

The company employed about 500 as of last October in the offices when it announced it would consolidate corporate offices.
