TouchTunes, Eric Church, jukebox, number one jukebox artistNEW YORK CITY -- Country music sensation Eric Church scored a huge victory this year. Church is the Top Played Artist of 2015 on TouchTunes' jukebox network, which reaches more than 60,000 venues in the United States.

TouchTunes, the nation's largest in-venue interactive entertainment platform, released its annual yearend music charts on Dec. 9, listing the the top played songs and artists, among other data. Based on music played on its domestic network of digital jukeboxes and mobile app, the company's year in review offers insight into music consumption trends for public play.

"Music industry 'experts' have a multitude of metrics to tell you if a song is working or not, but there's one way to truly know," Church said. "If a person wants to hear your song on a jukebox while they're kicking back at their favorite bar, you've got something. Proud to have been the soundtrack to a lot of late nights."

Other top played artists on TouchTunes jukeboxes in 2015 were AC/DC, Jason Aldean and Kid Rock, along with last year's No. 1 artist, Luke Bryan.

TouchTunes' Most Played Song of 2015 was "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. The song from the English singer-songwriter's second studio album has been nominated for Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. The song's popularity on TouchTunes' boxes could give it a boost at the 58th presentation of the Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 15.

Following "Thinking Out Loud" were "Girl Crush" by Little Big Town, "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle and "Sugar" by Maroon 5.

While country artists dominated the charts, rock music, commanding almost half of all purchases, reined supreme as the Top Played Genre of 2015 on TouchTunes boxes. Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" was the Top Played Rock Song.
