While rumors of Cohn's departure began to circulate in July, there has been no official confirmation from TouchTunes. People close to Cohn say he reportedly has assumed a post at bookseller Barnes & Noble.
Jamie Sura, the music company's vice-president of strategic accounts, is overseeing some of Cohn's responsibilities.
During his five years in the jukebox industry, Cohn won the respect of the independent service organizations ("operators" in industry parlance) that are TouchTunes' main customers. In May, the Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York honored the former TouchTunes executive as its Man of the Year. | SEE STORY
TouchTunes introduced the first fully digital pay-per-play jukebox in 1998. In April 2015, Searchlight Capital Partners purchased a controlling interest in the company. TouchTunes president and chief executive Charles Goldstuck, a music industry veteran, has led the company since 2009.
TouchTunes is headquartered in New York City and has offices in Chicago, Montreal and London. Its jukeboxes are installed and serviced by independent vending operators. Its total North American and European installed base is more than 71,000. TouchTunes' mobile app, which allows patrons to purchase songs for play on jukeboxes, has been downloaded more than five million times.
