A flower vending machine operated by Everest Flowers and Gifts in Sacramento, California, was damaged during a break-in on the Saturday before Mother's Day, according to an ABC 10 News report, with the shop estimating roughly $1,500 in losses. Owner Daniel Lapatski said the machine, believed to be among the first flower vending machines in the Sacramento area, was vandalized after a suspect shattered the glass and stole a single bouquet of flowers.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the theft was reported around 8:15 a.m. Surveillance footage reportedly showed a suspect in a white hoodie kicking the machine before removing the bouquet, while another individual stood nearby. Lapatski said the custom-built machine sustained major damage, including a broken door that may take weeks to replace.
