A Texas community college student encountered an unexpected problem just minutes before an exam when a vending machine failed to dispense a Scantron answer sheet the student had purchased, according to a Nerd Stash report.

The student, who uses the Reddit username Big_Marzipan3904, shared a photograph of the trapped form on the social media platform, describing the frustration of paying for a required testing supply and being unable to retrieve it with only three minutes remaining before the exam.

The incident sparked a discussion on Reddit about colleges requiring students to purchase their own testing materials. Some commenters expressed surprise that students were expected to pay for Scantron forms, while others were unfamiliar with vending machines that sell the answer sheets. Several users noted that purchasing Scantrons has long been common at some colleges, including institutions in Texas where students are instructed to bring their own forms for certain examinations.

Despite the vending machine malfunction, the student was able to take the exam after a classmate provided a spare Scantron. The student had photographed the machine to document the problem for the professor. The incident highlighted both the convenience of vending machines that provide academic supplies and the difficulties students can encounter when the equipment fails at a critical moment.
