BROWNSVILLE, TX -- Investigators working with the Cameron County District Attorney's Office raided a tractor-trailer that had been "repurposed" into an ad hoc 8-liner casino. The DA's office and Brownsville law enforcement said a tip led them to the video gambling operation parked on Indiana Ave. here.
Part of an ongoing effort codenamed Operation Bishop, the raid led to the arrest of five suspects. All were charged with gambling, operating without a license, 66 counts of operating equipment with tax due and organized crime activity. Officials seized $4,500 in cash, computer equipment and the land on which the trailers were parked.
The 21 customers inside the trailer at the time of the raid were ticketed and released.
