Texas vending operators will no longer be required to pay sales taxes on snack foods sold through vending machines if a recently proposed law becomes adopted, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association weekly legislative update. Texas State Rep. Chris Turner, a Democrat, introduced such a bill.

NAMA will work with the Texas Merchandise Vending Association to advance the bill.

Kansas, meanwhile, is considering eliminating all state and local food sales taxes by 2024. The state senate approved the amendment to B 248 which the governor supports and is now under consideration in the state house.
