TRENTON, NJ -- Two amusement game factories announced this month that their newest arcade games have received approval for New Jersey operation. The state's Games of Chance Control Commission awarded approval to Fishbowl Frenzy, made by Team Play Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL), and three new titles by Coastal Amusements Inc. (Lakewood, NJ).
The commission examines amusement games to determine whether they satisfy statutory requirements. Among other factors considered, Team Play president Frank Pellegrini explained, the gameplay must be for entertainment purposes and based on the player's active participation and skill.
"The New Jersey Commissioner who called me was very complimentary and was extremely impressed with the Fishbowl Frenzy game," Pellegrini said. "It was especially nice to hear such high praise from someone who examines virtually every redemption game on the market."
Team Play will install Fishbowl Frenzy software version"1.08 NJ" for games headed to the Garden State. The version number appears on the game's LED screen during the power cycle. In addition, a New Jersey addendum to the operator's manual will be provided with the game and is available for download from teamplayinc.com at the Fishbowl Frenzy support page.
Easy to learn but difficult to master, Fishbowl Frenzy is an augmented reality game based on classic electromechanical play. | READ MORE
Separately, Coastal Amusements reported that its Yahtzee, Black Hole and Subway Surfer arcade games are approved for operation at locations along the Jersey Shore. The arcade games will also ship with special software that complies with state requirements.
"All three titles have proven to be successful earners across the country," said Coastal president Lenny Dean. "Jersey Shore operators can now enjoy the same success."
Coastal executive vice-president Sal Mirando added, "We have had a vested interest in the Jersey Shore for over 40 years and continue to support our home market."
Nationwide, Coastal's new triumvirate is part of Dave and Buster's "Summer of Games" package, which publicizes them as the "hottest" new games of the season. | SEE STORY
