Taylor County, Wisconsin recently set up two vending machines offering Narcan, fentanyl test strips, first aid and CPR mask kits, gun locks and bags to dispose of medications. The county used grant money to install the machines and Marathon, Portage and Wood Counties will be joining them in the near the future to install machines, according to a report by Wisconsin Rapids Tribune.
The health department fills the vending machines about once a week, and it has received good feedback from residents.
"There is a stigma to addiction and to mental health issues," Melissa Moore, Taylor County public health coordinator, said in the report. "This is building those relationships we need to help."
