Health officials have added a Narcan vending machine to Hope Services' homeless shelter in Kona, Hawaii, according to a Big Island Now report.

Narcan is used to reverse an opioid overdose.

The machine is part of the Hawaii Island Fentanyl Task Force's fight against opioid abuse.

"Naloxone should be given to any person who shows signs of an opioid overdose," the side of the machine reads.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports a fatal opioid overdose occurs even seven days on Hawaii Island.
