Swire Coca-Cola to acquire Vietnam, Cambodia operations

Swire Coca-Cola Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Ltd., has agreed to acquire Coca-Cola subsidiaries with bottling businesses in Vietnam and Cambodia, according to a press release. Swire will pay $1.015 billion for the businesses, according to Bloomberg.

The transactions will be Swire Coca-Cola's first investments in South East Asia.

After closing, Swire Coca-Cola will own and operate Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Ltd., which has three bottling facilities in Vietnam, and Cambodia Beverage Company Ltd., which has one bottling facility in Cambodia.

Upon completion of the acquisitions, Swire Coca-Cola's franchise population will expand by 15% to 876 million people.

The bottlers are currently the number one sparkling beverage players in Vietnam and Cambodia.
