Remerco Agri-Industrial Co. Inc., a Philippines-based snack manufacturer, is looking to market sweet potato snacks in the U.S. Goody Goody brand sweet potato strings are available in 2.45-ounce bags in both natural and salted varieties. Each single-serve package contains 75 grams of all-natural product and has a one-year shelf life.

The company is looking for convenience service operators, resellers and wholesale distributors in the U.S., Ino Reyes, company director, told Vending Times via email. The sweet potatoes, grown in the highlands of Mindoro island, are cleaned and julienne-cut to strings, then cooked in coconut oil.

Sweet potatoes contain vitamins B and C, iron, calcium and selenium, Reyes said. The vegetable is also high in an antioxidant known as beta-carotene that converts to vitamin A once consumed. Reyes' grandmother, Vicky Aguinaldo-Reyes, started the company in 1986 with the goal of producing natural snacks that taste good but do not contain additives.
