Suntory makes multimillion investment in Seattle roaster

Suntory Holdings Ltd., a Tokyo-based multinational brewing and distilling company, has made a multimillion-dollar investment in Seattle-based Atomo Coffee Inc. to support environmental coffee production, according to a Bloomberg News report. The exact amount was not disclosed.

Atomo Coffee produces coffee using plant-based ingredients instead of coffee beans, according to its website.

An Atomo spokesperson said its Coachella Valley, California, facility will be fully commissioned to process up to 12 million date pits from local farmers per year. The company also plans to open a roastery in March.
