A University of Washington study reported a Seattle soda tax benefits low-income families, according to a mynorthwest.com report.
The average tax paid per person in low income Seattle communities was $19, $2,785,854 for all of the lowest-income population, but provided more than $6 million in programs.
The city collected more than $22 million in sweetened beverage tax revenue, $7 million above projections, funding scholarships, job training, food security initiatives and aid for at-risk children.
