A recent study published in Plos Medicine indicated moderate coffee and tea intake reduces stroke, dementia and poststroke dementia risk, according to a report in The Indian Express.
The study, "Consumption of coffee and tea and risk of developing stroke, dementia," covered 3,65,682 participants 50 to 74 years of age from the UK Biobank.
Researchers found that drinking two to three cups of coffee and two to three cups of tea daily corresponded with a 32% lower risk of stroke and a 28% lower risk of dementia, and that coffee intake alone or in combination with tea corresponded with lower post-stroke dementia risk.
Yash Vardhan Swami, a nutritionist, health and fitness coach, said coffee and/or tea consumption can deliver "improved cognition, focus on productivity due to its effects on neurotransmitters."
