Consuming "diet" sodas and other beverages with artificial sweeteners is as bad for the heart as regular sodas, according to a study published in The Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
The study, which sampled more than 100,000 people over 10 years, found both those who consumed sugary beverages and those who drank beverages that were artificially sweetened had greater risk of heart disease. Artificially sweetened beverages are marketed as a healthier alternative to regular soda.
