ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- The world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball machines has moved to a larger plant here, next to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. Stern Pinball Inc.'s factory was previously located in Melrose Park, IL, since 1986.
Stern's new 110,000-sq.ft. facility more than doubles its design, engineering and production capacity, enabling the pinball machine manufacturer to consolidate operations to improve efficiencies and support for global growth initiatives.
The company said the expansion is in response to growing worldwide demand for pinball games. This resurgence is attributed to a robust international collector community, expanding competitive player leagues and renewed commercial demand driven by a new generation of players discovering the allure of the silver ball.
"We're looking forward to calling Elk Grove Village our new home," said Stern Pinball chairman and chief executive Gary Stern. "The proximity to Chicago O'Hare Airport, one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, will make it even easier for pinball fans around the globe to visit our facility as well as metropolitan Chicago, the ancestral home of modern pinball."
Recent Stern pinball titles include WWE Wrestle Mania, The Walking Dead, Mustang, Star Trek, Metallica and The Avengers, along with X-Men, AC/DC, Tron, Transformers, Avatar, Iron Man, Batman and Spider-Man.
Stern Pinball Inc.'s new address is 2001 Lunt Ave., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.
