The National Automatic Merchandising Association Foundation has released its 2024–25 State of Convenience Services census, offering a look at the size and trajectory of the self-service retail and workplace food and beverage sector, according to a press release.
Developed in partnership with Technomic, the report provides industry benchmarks and forecasts aimed at helping operators, suppliers and investors assess current performance and future opportunities across vending, micro markets, office coffee service and pantry programs.
According to the report, U.S. convenience services revenue is projected to reach $31.1 billion in 2025, up from $26.6 billion in 2023, reflecting average annual growth of about 8.1%. While vending remains the largest segment by revenue and number of operators, companies are increasingly Consumer demand is also shaping product strategies, with many operators reporting increased interest in healthier options.
About 65% say clients are requesting better-for-you assortments, while 59% view those products as a key growth opportunity. The findings suggest that evolving consumer preferences, combined with advances in retail technology, are influencing both product mix and service delivery models.
Looking ahead, the industry is expected to continue expanding, with projected growth of roughly 6.5% annually across all business lines. NAMA President and CEO Christine Cochran said in the release the data underscores the growing role of convenience services in supporting modern workplaces, as employers invest in amenities and flexible access to food and beverages. The study is based on data collected in October 2025, representing about 27% of industry activity, and is part of NAMA's biennial effort to track trends and provide consistent market benchmarks.
