SEATTLE --- Starbucks is partnering with Uber to expand its delivery service to nearly 2,000 U.S. stores.

At its recent investor conference in New York City, the coffeehouse giant said it piloted its "Starbucks Delivers" service in partnership with UberEats in Miami and Tokyo in September and will begin offering it in nearly a quarter of its 8,000 U.S. company-operated stores in 2019. The rollout will begin in March or April, according to Starbucks chief operating officer Rosalind Brewer.

The company said it has special "spill proof" cups and makes delivery drinks hotter, so they arrive at the right temperature.

Earlier this year, Starbucks partnered with Alibaba for delivery service in China and the coffee giant has already expanded that program to 2,000 stores in 30 cities.

Starbucks also announced plans to put its nitro cold brew in every company-operated store by the end of 2019.
