FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Staples Inc. has kicked off its latest breakroom makeover contest to demonstrate how office design contributes to workplace morale, productivity, collaboration, recruitment and retention. From Aug.  2 to 29, all U.S. businesses with at least 10 employees are eligible to enter for a chance to win the $50,000 makeover.

Staples Business Advantage, the office supply chain's B2B division, will provide the grand-prize winner access to its coffee, snacks, office furniture, cleaning solutions and technology products, as well as its design and installation services. The winning breakroom will also be the focus of a professional workplace study to demonstrate how a changing workspace can impact office behavior and culture.

"The workplace continues to evolve and the classic meaning of the breakroom as just a place to heat up your lunch is a thing of the past," said Neil Ringel, president, Staples North American delivery. 'When designed thoughtfully and with the employee in mind, the breakroom can be one of the most valuable spaces in the office and Staples is excited to demonstrate the impact that workplace design can have on productivity and collaboration."

To enter for a chance to win, workplaces are required to describe in 150 words or less their ultimate breakroom and why their current company needs a breakroom makeover. They must also submit up to three photos of their current breakroom.
