Standard AI to acquire self checkout provider Skip

Standard AI, a San Francisco based provider of AI solutions for retail, has agreed to acquire Skip, a self-checkout solutions provider based in South Jordan, Utah, according to a press release. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Standard AI will connect self-checkout with AI-powered autonomous checkout into one integrated experience. Skip offers kiosks and mobile checkout solutions.

Standard AI will integrate Skip's cloud-based point of sale with the back office ecosystem to streamline operations and give greater control over price, discounts, promotions and more.

Retailers can use Standard Checkout, part of the Vision OS platform, to transform existing stores into checkout-free retail experiences.

"By integrating with Standard AI, we are now taking our kiosks to the next level and working on solutions that will go beyond them as we create the future of autonomous checkout," Chase Thomason, Skip founder and CEO, said in the press release.
